The Wedgewood Inn

Every couple years, my grandma takes her granddaughters who are over 14 to the Victorian-country style Wedgewood Inn for a retreat. I have been on four of these retreats. This year, my cousin Ashley was initiated into these trips. This was the first time I left Mari overnight! I always thought it would be with Aaron, but not so. I picked my little sister up downtown from her dance practice, and we made the 1 hour trip to Jackson on dark windy roads. We almost hit a deer, an owl, and a squirrel. We finally realized we were getting lost when we started winding up a dark mountain and crossed a county line. Everything is a little bit scarier at 11 o'clock at night! When I got into bed, there was a card and a hand-picked box of See's Candies underneath my pillow! They were from my sweet husband so I wouldn't feel so homesick! He is a wonderful husband!
We finally got there and joined our four other cousins and grandma in the Carriage House, the detatched portion of the inn that we have all to ourselves! We always stay in the Carriage House when we come here. I really think of it as another home to us.
There are two rooms in the carriage house, but only one bed. I get to share the bed with my grandma, and the others sleep on roll-away and hide-a-beds. The Carriage House has a huge Jacuzzi tub, elegant sitting areas, TV, and antiques (like all the other rooms at the inn).
The innkeepers make a delicious breakfast every morning. I bought their recipe book, and they told me their trade secrets. :) We've made friends with the innkeepers over the years, Vic and Jeannine. Sadly, they are selling the inn. :(
There is a piano in the atrium that we all gathered around to sing at. Every year, we have a theme for our trips. This year's theme was testimony. We learned a beautiful old hymn called "My Testimony".
