At the beginning of the summer, I made a post about how Mari jumped into a deep part of a pool and I had to go save her. I vowed then that Mari would learn how to save herself if I am not there.
For the past month, Mari has been taking swim lessons through an instructor that teaches the method of the video I posted on that post. The program is called Infant Swimming Resource, and there happened to be an instructor a couple miles from our home. Mari has been taking lessons for the past month, and I am very pleased with her progress. The program teaches children ages 6 months through 6 years how to save themselves if they get too deep into water. Along with teaching swimming, they teach children to automatically go to a float if the child can't swim to safety in time. The lessons are 5 days a week and ten minutes a day.
I recorded a lesson last week that I participated in, but usually I don't get in the pool. Check it out:

That's very neat that she's taking those lessons. I definitely want to do that with my kids. I bet the process is hard to watch them learn, but most definitely worth it.
I love this post. Could you tell me the instructor's contact info and how much the lessons cost? (You could email me with the details if you want). I am so scared of Grace and Blake falling in the pool. Last week at Blake's swim lesson at the CSD (Wackford) she fell in the 1 1/2 foot water on her back and just looked up at Robbie standing outside the water above her, not moving for the one second she was in the water. It terrified me and I'd love to teach her how to react if she falls in.
That is so awesome! I can't wait to put Hailey in those swimming lessons. I definitely need to look into that.
