You know those huge shopping carts at the grocery store that have a play car attached to the front to put your kids in? I used one for the first time yesterday. As we were walking into SaveMart, Mari saw one, started pointing at it, and used all the words she could (most of then words she made up) to tell me she wanted to ride it. I used one of those antibacterial wipes they have to wipe it down then I buckled her in. She took hold of the steering wheel and started driving it. I think she really thought she was controlling it. I wish I had taken a picture.
I was a little worried about this mega-sized shopping car because I have a bad reputation for running a regular shopping cart into things. I have a bad awareness of my surroundings. I know there's a word for that, but I can't think of it. Anyway, In a regular length shopping cart, I run into the ends of aisles all the time. I've even knocked down ceramic figurines. They made a huge sound and a huge mess, and I offered to pay for them, but the store manager was very kind to me.
Besides being super long, the wheels were "slippery" and made the cart hard to control. So when I took control of this car shopping cart, I knew for sure I was going to knock something over. As I was steering it, or I guess Mari was steering it ;), I even thought of a title for this post if I had knocked something over. I'm going to have to save that title for later because we left the grocery store unscathed. Despite being hard to control, the car shopping cart made the trip much more enjoyable for Mari, which means it was much more enjoyable for me.
