Mari and I have started going on a walk every morning. Where we walk is beautiful. I like to think of it as my personal Utopia. When we have the pleasure of buying a house someday, I want to live here. We walk along a lake, stop to say "hi" to the ducks (Mari's favorite part), and go past an elementary school.

When we were walking past the school on Thursday, there was a class walking on the sidewalk. The teacher of the class turned to the class and said, "Make room for our parent!" I have been a mom for 16 months now, but I've never actually been called a "parent". There's something about the word "parent" that sounds so old. I much prefer being called "Mari's mommy" because it sounds cute and young to me. But being called a parent marks a significant step in my development as a mom. When Mari was first born, when I was out and about people thought she was my little sister. A month ago, I was at Trader Joe's and the cashier asked if I was Mari's nanny. This week, I've been promoted to being Mari's parent. I guess that means I'm actually starting to look old. Oh well. I'll take that to looking like a teen sister!

The ducks here will eat right out of your hands. :)

We are SO lucky to live here! I love the lake and we try to walk around it or ride our bikes as often as possible.
I have the same experience when I volunteer at Hallie's school and they all call me Mrs. Morton. I want to look around and figure out who they are talking to.
Ahhh, I miss the days of looking like a young mom..... :) We also love going to the lake and feeding the ducks!
I love this story. When did WE become parents haha!
