A Monster Halloween

So, one day, I started putting Mari's hair in pigtails. I had everyone telling me she looked like Boo from Monsters Inc. That's when my dangerous idea began to have the whole family coordinate costumes for Halloween. Aaron was going to be Mike Wazowski, I was going to be Celia, Mike's girlfriend, and Mari, of course, was going to be Boo. After searching the whole world web, I found that you could not buy Mike, Celia, and Boo costumes, so I would have to make them. Well, you can't buy Monsters Inc. patterns, so I had to make it all up! I bought Mari's leggings online, but I had to make her night shirt. I didn't know how much work went into making a simple shirt!!! Next on the list was Mike and Celia. Luckily, I had a pattern for the cap, so that part was easy. Under the close supervision of my mom, I made hands, arms, feet, legs, and snakes. I even made a real rattle for the snakes. My mom helps me attach everything to the caps, and last on the list was buying face paint. Aaron did all the painting on his face, and I did mine. This took a whole week to accomplish, but I did it! My first big sewing project! It was a hit at the trunk or treat.

Following the Monsters Inc. theme for this Halloween, Aaron carved Mike Wazowski into our pumpkin. While he carved it, I cooked the pumpkin seeds. They were deliciously addicting!

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

1/2 teaspoon worchestershire sauce

1/2 teaspoon onion salt

1 1/2 tablespoons melted butter

1 1/2 teaspoons salt

Mix with seeds from one pumpkin. Spread seeds on a cookie sheet and cook at 250 degrees F for 1 1/2 hour. Stir every 20 minutes.
